The Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, TX is not just one building but is actually made up of four active different buildings located in different parts of Tarrant County. Make sure you know which building your friend or family member is located or you will be driving all-around Tarrant County.

By looking online you can also see the charge, bond (if any), and the arrest date.

There are four (4) buildings but the primary jail address located in Downtown Fort Worth is 100 N. Lamar Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102. For the other addresses see above.

- Also street parking is available. Be sure and bring cash to pay for parking; there is no free parking Downtown. Green Bay Jail has free parking.
What Time Is The Jail Open:
This jail is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
When Are Prisoners Arraigned:
Inmates are usually booked at the Tarrant County Correction Center at 100 N. Lamar Street, Fort Worth, TX or the local city jail. Inmates may then be transferred to other facilities.
When Are Visiting Hours:
Visitors can only visit on certain days and times. The visitation times depend on the person’s last name.
If the inmate’s last name begins with A through L then visitation is as follows:
- Mondays and Saturdays 9:00AM – 9:00PM (Visitors will not be processed after 8:30PM)
- Fridays 9:00AM-3:00PM (Visitors will not be processed after 2:30PM)
If the inmate’s last name begins with M through Z then visitation is as follows:
- Tuesdays and Sundays 9:00AM – 9:00PM (Visitors will bot be processed after 8:30PM)
- Fridays 3:00PM-9:00PM (Visitors will not be processed after 8:30PM)
Hospital Visits are as follows:
- Sunday through Saturday 5:00PM-9:00PM
What Do I Need To Visit An Inmate & Rules For Visiting:
Inmates are only allowed one 30-minute visit per day and only two adults are allowed at a time. Only two children (17 years old or younger) can visit. Visits from an attorney do not count.
Only three (3) visits are allowed per week. Again, attorney visits do not count.
If you were released from Tarrant County Jail within the last six (6) months, you cannot visit an inmate.
If you live over 150 miles away you are classified as an out-of-town resident the time allowed will go to 40 minutes. Please keep in mind, that the address and place of residence will be verified during the visitation hours.
Keep in mind common sense when visiting; do not come looking like a club night out. The jail will not allow any revealing or scantly dressed people to visit.
To visit anyone over the age of 18, you will need identification. Here is the type of identification that is allowed:
- Valid Driver’s License from any state. A temporary (paper) license may be accepted as long as it is current and the person has another type of photo identification.
- Valid identification card issued from any state.
- Valid passports are acceptable identification under the following rules per the U.S. Department of State (www.travel.state.gov/ppt_faq.html):
- If the person was 16 years of age or older when the passport was issued, the passport is valid for 10 years from the date of issue.
- If the person was 15 years of age or younger when the passport was issued the passport is valid for five years from the date of issue.
- Immigration ID card with photo, issued by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service
- Mexican Consulate cards
- Mexican Voter Registration cards with a United States address listed as a residence are not valid forms of identification.
- Military ID cards, including active duty, reserve, National Guard, retired, or dependents. All of these ID cards are issued by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) with the exception of the State Guard, which is issued by the respective State.
What Is The Phone Call Policy:
Freephone calls are only available while the inmate is in the booking process. Each holding cell has a telephone. This phone is available for inmates to make calls to arrange bail, inform the family of their circumstances or reach an attorney. Calls are free within the local dialing area. Collect call phones are available to make calls outside of the local dialing area.
When an inmate calls you collect you are responsible for the collect call fee. Please call Securus Correctional Billing @ 1-800- 844-6591 for collect call fee in your area.
How Can I Write A Letter To An Inmate:
You can write an inmate a letter and send it USPS. Here is how you address the letter:

How Can I Leave An Inmate Money:
You can leave an inmate money in person at the Tarrant County Jail Corrections Center at 100 N. Lamar Street, Fort Worth, TX. They have kiosks there as well at the Green Bay Jail facility. You can leave cash or money orders almost 24 hours a day 7 days a week. You cannot leave money from 6:00AM-6:30AM, 2:00PM-2:30PM, or 10:00PM-10:30PM. Be aware no loose coins are accepted.
You can also visit www.accesscorrections.com online to leave money for an inmate.
Family can also mail in USPS (United States Postal Service) and Western Union Money Orders. Cash is not accepted and will be returned to the sender. Mail all money orders to:

Where Are Impound Vehicles Are Stored:
To determine if and where your vehicle has been impounded call the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department at 817-884-1212. They will tell you if the vehicle has been impounded and give you the contact information of the towing company. They will not give you the fees but you can call the towing company and find that out.
Once An Inmate Has Been Released Where Can I Pick Him Up:
The Tarrant County Jail releases all inmates (even the ones at different buildings) are released from the Corrections Center at 100 N. Lamar. Inmates can be released 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

How Can I Post Bail For An Inmate:

What is Pretrial Release:
Pretrial Release is unique to Tarrant County Jails. Pretrial Release is a bond office that Tarrant County pays. Inmates are required to meet certain minimum qualifications for Pretrial Release. Call 817-884-1465 to see if an inmate qualifies for Pretrial Release. To give you an idea about some of the most basic requirements sees below:
- You must be a Tarrant County resident.
- You must be in jail for a crime you committed against Tarrant County.
- You cannot be on parole or have any previous felony convictions.
- You have to agree to appear in court.
- You must provide a valid form of identification.
- You cannot be in jail for a first-degree felony.
- You cannot have a history of bond forfeitures.
How Do You Go And Pick Up Property:
You can only pick up property for inmates who are being sent to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). These inmates will be allowed to have someone come and pick up or claim their property. This form will be provided once the inmate is being transferred. The person then has thirty (30) days to come and pick up the property.
For special circumstances regarding property pick-up, please ask to speak to a Captain. If a Captain is not available, ask to speak to the Booking Watch Commander. They have the power to allow a special release of property.
