Hays County Jail is located at 1307 Uhland Road, San Marcos, TX 78666 and the telephone number is 512-393-7800.

When Are Prisoners Arraigned:

Arraignment times are dependent upon the Judge’s schedule.

When Are Visiting Hours:

Each inmate is given a visitation card and has the option to list up to five different adults on the card. The inmate is allowed to change names on the card every thirty days. If minors wish to visit, a parent or legal guardian must be present. Visitation rules outline only two  thirty minute visits a week with two or less individuals at one time. Visiting options include

  1. 1.       One visit on Friday or Monday AND one visit on Saturday or Sunday
  2. 2.       One visit on Friday AND one visit on Monday.

Visiting hours on Friday and Mondays are from 8am-10am and 12pm-4pm. Saturday visiting hours begin with all last names beginning with the letters A-L from 8am-10am or Sundays 12pm-4pm. For last names beginning with M-Z, Saturday hours are from 12pm-4pm or Sundays 8am-10am.

In order to visit an inmate at Hays County Jail, you will need to present a valid proof of identification.

How Else Can I Contact An Inmate:

You are welcome to mail an inmate anytime. Inmates are given the option to mail anyone they wish so long as it does not violate any U.S. Postal Regulations. Naturally, inmates are allowed to also receive any mail so long as it does not violate any U.S Postal Regulations, State or Federal Laws, or Hays County Policy Manual. Mail will be delivered after inspection for contraband. All envelopes should be address to the in mate and his/her SPIN number for an easier processing. In regards to inmate property, an inmate is to fill out a property release card. Upon arriving, the individual named on the card will need to present a valid form of identification in order to collect the property. Pick up times are from 7am-7pm weekdays, Monday through Friday.

Once An Inmate Has Been Released Where Can I Pick Him Up:

Once an inmate has been released you can pick him up inside the Hay County Jail at 1307 Uhland Road, San Marcos, Texas 78666.

  1. Officer McCoy is the nicest officer! My son was arrested and brought to your location. He was being transferred to Corpus Christi. Officer McCoy calmed me down, explained everything and informed who to contact so my son could call me. I was a nervous wreck and if it wasn’t for Officer McCoy calming me down and being so helpful and KIND….I would of had a panic attack which would have kex to a seizure.
    Officer McCoy Thank you for all your kindness and patients with me. I think I called you a dozen times.

  2. This is the worst jail I’ve ever been in.the food is horrible!!!if you don’t have money to buy stuff,you’ll be eating tater tot casserole!!!
